Passenger list 'Southern Cross' Sept 1958

Now this was quite a find I thought, will you think that too? For $2, an actual passenger list which the passenger's would receive, what a momento of this round the world voyage. There is only a few doing the round trip though.
The Shaw Savill Line passenger list, S.S. Southern Cross, Captain L. H. Edmeades, is divided into passengers from Capetown, Freemantle, Melbourne, Sydney, Wellington, Fiji, Panama, Curacao, Trinidad and those taking the round voyage.

Do have a look at the images and see if you can spot someone you know.

  1. Those passenger lists are interesting. I still have my mother's from her voyage of the Rangitiki earlier that same year.

  2. Timespanner, you're so lucky, my family were too poor to escape!

  3. My mum must have saved heaps from her work at W&H Smith's in London (freezing half to death in the winters there). She said to me she came here basically with a few pounds in the purse, and got a place at a motor camp while she got a job. I still don't know all the details, and probably won't now she's dead, but I think she was amazing to have succeeded in coming so far.
